The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Program is a federally mandated, state-administered program requiring individuals and companies engaged in interstate or international commerce to register each year and pay a fee based on the size of their fleet.

Carriers must complete their UCR registration and pay the annual fee before operating. Registration opens on October 1 each year.

We’ll handle your UCR registration and keep your renewals on track.

What happens if you don’t file UCR on time?

Failing to file your UCR on time can lead to serious consequences, including:

  • Fines ranging from $100 to $5,000 per violation, depending on the state
  • Vehicle detention during roadside inspections
  • DOT audits or increased scrutiny from enforcement agencies

Don’t risk it—register early to avoid penalties and keep your operations running smoothly.

Do you need UCR if your state doesn’t participate?

Yes. Even if your base state doesn’t participate in the UCR Agreement, you must still register if your business operates across state lines or international borders. This requirement also applies to Canadian carriers and drivers based in non-participating states.

UCR is Mandatory.

We can help you complete your UCR registration through a participating state, ensuring you stay compliant and keep your business moving.

Keep your MCS-150 updated for accurate UCR filing

Before you file your UCR, make sure your MCS-150 is current—especially your vehicle count. An outdated record can
lead to incorrect UCR fees and compliance issues.

If you’ve made any changes to your vehicle count while filing UCR, don’t forget to go back and update your MCS-150
afterward to stay fully compliant with FMCSA requirements.
